Simultaneous determination of 25 whitening ingredients in cosmetics by high performance liquid chromatography
A method for simultaneous determination of 25 whitening components in cosmetics by high performance liquid chromatography was established.Cosmetic samples were extracted by 50%(volume fraction)methanol solution ultrasound, filtered by polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)membrane, separated by gradient elution on Thermo Scientific AcclaimTM 120(250 mm×4.6 mm,5 μm)chromatography column, detected by diode array detector(DAD),and quantified by external standard method. The mass concentration of 25 whitening components had a good linear relationship with the chromatographic peak area in the range of 0.4-392.5 μg/mL,and the linear correlation coefficients were all more than 0.999.The detection limits were 0.4-41.4 μg/g and the quantification limits were 1.3-138.1 μg/g in water base, emulsion, powder, facial mask and gel.The average recoveries of spiked samples were 92.6%-109.7%,and the relative standard deviations of determination results were 0.3%-4.8%(n=6).This method can be used for the determination of 25 whitening components in most cosmetic matrices.
