Xianrendong Site,the site of caves of mid to late Paleolithic Period,is in Guanyinsi Town,Lushan County,Henan Province.There are two caves,one larger and the other smaller.Inside Cave Ⅰ,which contains undisturbed deposit,the excavated area in 2020 and 2021 totaled 14 m2,and yielded shards of ancient human skulls,stone implements and abundant animal fossils 40,000 to 30,000 years old,as indicated by the results of preliminary dating analyses.The human fossils and related materials unearthed from the site provide important evidence and information for the research into the evolution process of early modem humans in China and East Asia,as well as the analysis of cultural features and paleoenvironment of this region in Paleolithic Period.
