The pot with wave-shaped grooves is a type of pottery vessels that has wave-shaped grooves near the rim on its inside wall.Although small in number, such pots have distinctive features, and were mainly popular during Phase Ⅲ of Wangwan Culture. These pots can be seen as representative vessels of Phase Ⅲ of Wangwan Culture, for their ups and downs echoed the rise, expansion and decline of Phase Ⅲ of Wangwan Culture.Changes in the distribution of the pots with wave-shaped grooves also prove exchanges and dissemination of archaeological cultures in this period. In particular, the appearance of such pots in eastern Hubei is compelling evidence proving the southward spread of Phase Ⅲ of Wangwan Culture via the east route.
