Changes in the setting of pottery are important indicators of changes in archaeological cultures,implying that,in the powerful current of ever-changing social organisation and structures,certain shifts occurred in the crowds,or groups,that were represented by these cultures.Among different settings of pottery,changes in cookware were closely related to the shapes and structures of stoves and fire pits.With archaeological cultures in the middle reaches of the Yellow River going through Longshan Culture period to Erlitou Culture period,was there any change in terms of humans'livelihood?If there was,what was the background of such changes?This article looks at sets of cookware and the shapes and structures of stoves and fire pits,and,in the light of archaeological evidence gathered from different regions,discusses the changes in cooking methods of two eras.It is an attempt to restore the lifestyle of that time and the variations that corresponded to the change of the times.
