Preceding the construction of the second phase of the Xinjiayuan Project at Tangfangli in Xuchang city,archaeological excavations were carried out by Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and other institutes at Tangfangli Site.A large number of remains of the Xia,Shang and Eastern Zhou have been discovered.The discovery of elements of Erlitou Culture and Erligang Culture yields new archaeological evidence for the research into the settlement pattems in the Xia Dynasty and the Xia-Shang dynastic transition in the middle and lower reaches of the Yinghe River.
