There are relatively few types of kiln furniture of Northern Dynasties. They can be divided into three major categories, namely batts, props and cylindrical components. The categories of kiln furniture and residual traces show that the methods of kiln setting and firing used in Northern Dynasties included sintering stacked wares, sintering non-stacked wares,upside-down firing with columnar three-legged props and firing wares stacked in cylindrical kiln furniture. The first two methods predominated. The method of firing wares stacked in cylindrical kiln furniture was the embryonic form of Shandong's firing wares loaded in saggers in Sui Dynasty. In Northern Dynasties, there was pottery kiln furniture and repeated use of some, which should be a special situation in the early days of porcelain production in northern China. The kiln furniture of Northern Dynasties was influenced by the porcelain production technology of southern China, had some items created along the development process, followed independent development tracks, and had a profound impact on the porcelain making industry of northern regions in Sui and Tang dynasties.
