In this article,means of X-ray diffraction,SEM & EDS and laser Raman spectroscopy are used in analytical tests of pigments collected from remnants of color paintings in the chapel of Qinyang's Beida Temple.The results show that,in the color paintings,the red pigment is vermilion(cinnabar,HgS),the green pigment is verdigris,the white pigment is lead white,or white clay(Kaolin clay),and the dark blue pigment is indigo blue.After the tests,the composition of the pigments collected from the remnants of color paintings in the chapel of Qinyang's Beida Temple is clarified,laying the foundation for follow-up preservation and restoration work and,at the same time,facilitating the research into the development of early Xuan Zi style of decoration.
