Based on the archaeological investigation and research into the 12 group statues of one Buddha with fifty attendant Bodhisattvas that are still extant in the Longmen Grottoes,this article analyzes the Buddha,the number of fifty attendant Bodhisattvas,the arrangements of the Buddha and the attendant Bodhisattvas,the shapes and structures of the grottoes,the combinations of statues,the age of the carvings and other issues,summarizes the characteristics,development and changes of the motif that depicts one Buddha with fifty attendant Bodhisattvas,and discusses related topics.
