OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of total flavonoids from Artemisia scoparia Waldst.et Kit.(ASTF)on respiratory syncytial virus(RSV),Coxsackie virus B3(CBV3)and influenza A(H1N1)in vitro.METHODS Models(RSV-infected Hep2/A549 cells,CBV3-infected Hep2 cells and H1 N1-infected A549/THP1 cells)were used to detect the anti-respiratory virus effect of ASTF in vitro,Cytopathic effect scoring and Viral ToxGlo were used to evaluate the anti-respiratory virus effect of ASTF;ELISA method was further conducted to elucidate the impact of ASTF on the secretion of inflammatory cytokines IL-1 β,IL-6 and TNF-α in the supernatant infected by respiratory virus.RESULTS ASTF showed an inhibitory effect on respiratory viruses in vitro. With increasing concentration, the antiviral effect was enhanced in a dose-dependent way.ASTF was also involved in the virus-mediated inflammatory response by decreasing the expression of IL-6 and TNF-α.CONCLUSION ASTF demonstrated good inhibitory effect on respiratory virus in vitro.
