To improve the temporal resolution of waveforms of airborne LiDAR bathymetry(ALB),different interpolation methods were used to interpolate the waveforms. However, unreasonable interpolation methods can cause overfitting and underfitting of waveform signals, and it is difficult to find a universal interpolation method applicable to all ALB waveforms. To address this problem, this paper proposes an adaptive waveform interpolation(AWI)method to improve the waveform temporal resolution.First, the surface peak sequence of the ALB waveforms is filtered with a low-pass filter. Then, the differences between the new waveform peaks obtained by different interpolation methods and the low-pass filtered peaks are compared,so as to adaptively select the best interpolation method for each waveform.Waveform data collected by Optech CZMIL are used to verify the AWI method.Compared with the traditional methods, the AWI method reduced the RMSE and MAE by 1.76%and 4.01%,respectively.
