Polar regions are new frontiers of the development.Analyzing and mastering the characteristics and types of seafloor topography data in the polar region has potential significance for understanding, exploring, and utilizing the polar region.Based on the data provided by IBCSO V2.0 model(the International Bathymetric Chart of the Southern Ocean)and IBCAO V4.2 model(the International Bathymetric Chart of the Arctic Ocean),we quantitatively analyzed the seafloor topography characteristics in the regions, including Antarctic regions,Arctic regions, different longitude zones and different latitude zones. Then,we compared the differences in contribution levels and distribution patterns of different seafloor topography modeling data. The results indicate that the overall depth of water in the Antarctic waters is significantly deeper than that in the Arctic waters, while the complexity of seafloor topography is generally equivalent. As latitude increases, the overall depth of water in Antarctic waters gradually deepens, while the overall depth of water in Arctic waters gradually shallows. The main sources of IBCAO V4.2 model are interpolated depth based on a computer algorithm,multibeam/single beam, combination of direct measurement methods, with an overall contribution of 97.80%.Compared to Arctic waters, the seafloor topography data in Antarctic waters includes a large amount of predicted bathymetry based on satellite-derived gravity data, accounting for about a quarter of the total seafloor topography data in Antarctic waters.
