Seasonal Changes of Phytoplankton In The Wetlands of Lake Buffer Zone of Zhushan Bay, Taihu Lake
To study the community structure of phytoplankton and assess the water quality in the wetlands of lake buffer zone of Zhushan Bay,Taihu Lake, four investigations were carried out from September 2012 to August 2013.The results showed that a total of 112 species were found in the study area.Chlorophyta was the most dominant, with 43 species, accounting for 38.4% of the total phytoplankton species, followed by Bacillariophyta, with 40 species, accounting for 35.7% of the total phytoplankton species. The quantity of phytoplankton ranged from 5360.0 104 to 54627.4 104cells/L,with seasonal changing trend of spring>autumn>winter>summer. The similarity indexes of phytoplankton ranged from 0.37 to 0.71,with the lowest value between summer and autumn and the highest value between spring and summer. The analysis of dominance indexes showed that there were more than 3 dominant species in each season and the indexes ranged from 0.02 to 0.06.The diversity indexes ranged from 0.85 to 1.58 and the evenness indexes ranged from 0.14 to 0.29,respectively,which indicated that the phytoplankton community structure in the present study was uneven, and the community structures was simple.Chlorophyta index and biodiversity indexes were used to evaluate the water quality of the wetlands of lake buffer zone of Zhushan Bay,Taihu Lake. The results showed that the study area was under heavy eutrophication. The water quality might be heavily polluted in winter and moderately polluted in spring, summer and autumn.
