19世纪早期,随着西方各国与中国的交往日益增多,西方人学习汉语的需求和愿望日益增强,研究中文的著作以及适合于外国人学习中文的资料不断增多.1838年7月,《中国丛报》刊发了《对现有的汉语学习资源、特别是适合英美学习者的著作的评论》一文,对早期西方人汉语学习史上的一些重要人物和重要作品做了点评,并就19世纪早期西方汉语教育史的发展过程进行了初步梳理,对了解早期世界汉语教育史以及西方汉学史不无裨益.译者翻译了全文,并且根据内容将原文分为五节,拟定了正文和各节标题,对文章涉及的汉学家和汉学著作逐一做了注释,以便读者进一步了解当时的学术背景.
Abstract
In the early 19th century,with the increasing communication between Western countries and China,the demand and desire of Westerners to learn Chinese was increasing,and the works on Chinese and the materials suitable for foreigners to learn Chinese were also increasing.In July 1838,The Chinese Repository published an article entitled"Review of the facilities existing for the study of the Chinese language,especially as regards England and America",which made comments on some important facilities and works,and made a preliminary review on the development of Western Chinese education in the early 19th century.It is helpful to understand the history of Chinese education and the history of Chinese studies in the West.The translator translated the full text and divided the original text into five sections according to the content,drew up the text and the title of each section,and made notes on the sinologists and sinology works involved in the article,so that readers could further understand the academic background at that time.
