摘要
唐五代蜀地的碑刻中有"百牛"一词,清人叶昌炽等猜测是"当时方言".从文献用例出发,结合语境,考察社会观念,证明碑文中的"百牛"应指癞疾,这一词义的产生,可能受到出自《论语》的典故"伯牛之疾"的影响.
Abstract
Some inscriptions from the Shu region in Tang and Five Dynasties Period contain the word"Bainiu(百牛)",which attracted the attention of epigraphists such as Ye Changchi.They proposed that"Bainiu"stemmed from a dialect.This article proposes a new explanation of"Bainiu"that it refers to leprosy by investigating the language exam-ples and social concept.The meaning of this word may be influenced by the allusion"Boniu's disease"from the Analects of Confucius.
