An Evaluation on Huai'an Urban Heritage Based on the Inheritance of Historical Context Under CMP System
Huai'an is one of the most important water conservancy hub cities along the Grand Canal in China.Since the capital of Beijing was established during the Yuan,Ming,and Qing Dynasties,the Grand Canal has been re-dredged,rerouted,and connected.The huge demand for materials in the north has led to the prosperity of water transportation.At that time,Huai'an City was seizing the opportunity of water transportation,salt transportation,river engineering,customs clearance,and postal stations,and the landscape was unparalleled.Currently,the conservation,inheritance,and utilization of the Canal City heritages have gradually become an important part of urban development.The heritage of Huai'an City reflects its urban cultural characteristics and is also a direct manifestation of urban functions.Using CMP(Conservation Management Plan)we evaluate the value of Huai'an urban heritage from the perspective of site significance,and attempt to construct guidelines for historical context conservation,utilization,and inheritance to promote the construction of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt.
