Under the background of refine urban governance and stock renewal,urban renewal attaches more and more importance to residents'participation,and the establishment of public participation mechanism for old city renewal and the implementation of community residents'demands have gradually become the important contents of old city renewal,and the original old city renewal mode under the street governance unit has gradually evolved into the renewal mode that combines with the community governance unit.However,the difference between the requirements for historic landscape preservation focused on by street units and the residents'demands focused on by community units,which has led to a difference in the order of implementation of the levels and contents in the process of physical space renewal.Taking the area of the Brick Pagoda Community as an example,we follow the renewal process of Brick Pagoda Hutong and investigate the demands of residents in the Brick Pagoda Community,in order to analyze the problems of old city renewal in historical and cultural districts under different governance units.By adjusting the spatial renewal sequences of different levels at the levels of soft environment for people's needs and material space for objects,we aim to realize an effective balance between the protection of historical features and the improvement of life and residence by inheriting the traditional features of the old city and responding to the construction needs of the contemporary people in the old city renewal under the collaborative governance of the unit.
