In the context of rapid urbanization,ancient cities are facing increasing risks and challenges,and need to be updated and upgraded.Based on the perspective of resilience,Daruxiang community in the ancient city of Suzhou is selected as the research object,and its current characteristics are analyzed and sorted out.It is believed that the historical community of the ancient city should have the characteristics of robustness,redundancy and connectivity when coping with external shocks from the perspective of resilience.According to the characteristics of the ancient city of Suzhou,we propose a toughness idea that blends with the architecture of the water town,integrates with the space of the water town,and fits with the streets of the water network.Finally,according to the current situation,we discuss the protection and toughness enhancement strategy of the historic community of the ancient city based on the toughness concept,in order to promote the safe and sustainable development of the historic community of the ancient city of Suzhou.
