Dongda Temple in Kaifeng,known as the foremost mosque in He'nan province before,is the largest mosque in Kaifeng with an earlier founding age.It was designated as one of the sixth batch of national key cultural relic protection units in 2006.Through literature research,field investigation,surveying,and mapping,we thoroughly examine the historical evolution of Dongda Temple while analyzing its spatial layout,architectural design,decorative arts,and ultimately summarize its distinctive spatial organization characteristics.The study reveals that Dongda Temple embodies the organic integration of Islam and Chinese culture,and is a vivid example of the localization of mosques in the Central Plains.
