In 1925,the"Women's Normal University Incident"has continued to worsen,resulting in serious divisions within the Chinese intellectual community.On May 27th,Zhou Zuoren and six other professors made a"Declaration on Beijing Women's Normal University Incident".On May 30th,Chen Yuan directly criticized it in Idle Talks,believing that the"Beijing Women's Normal University Incident"was secretly instigated by those from a certain ethnic group or department who held the greatest in-fluence in the education circle in Beijing.The different positions between Zhou and Chen further fueled the opposition between the Yusi Society and the Modern Review School.In May,the May 30th Movement broke out and Zhou actively joined the Shang-hai Case Support Association of Peking University faculty while also wrote articles to reflect on the drawbacks of the mass move-ment,thinking that the lesson of"peace fantasy"could be seen from the past events of the May Fourth Movement which has the following two unrealistic beliefs:(1)there is justice but no power,and(2)mass movements can succeed.After the rooting of these two superstitions,in the past four years,the establishment of alliances in various scales has been seen every day.With the divine power of proclamations,telegrams,declarations and marches,it seems to solve all forms of inequality,and put aside the cultivation of ideological transformation and strength.Through such expressions,the ideological foundation of Zhou Zuoren is basically established and its ideological outlook has gradually become clear and stable.
