Individual Differences in Children's Computational Thinking Development and the Underlying Mechanisms
As a problem-solving mindset, computational thinking plays a significant role in information age.In the process of cultivating computational thinking of children,it is crucial to recognize and respect individual differences. The aim of this article was to explore the individual differences in children's computational thinking development and their mechanisms.Firstly, the individual differences in computational thinking were excavated from the perspectives of age, gender, and socio-cultural background.Based on this, the mechanisms underlying these differences were explained by ecosystem theory from five levels:microsystems, mesosystems, exosystems, macrosystems, and chronosystems.Furthermore, the enlightenments on computational thinking theory and educational practice were systematically discussed to provide insights for promoting the progress and development of computational thinking education in China.
