Relationship Between Online Social Anxiety and Depression Among High School Students:A Longitudinal Tracking Study
A tracking study was designed to explore the relationship between online social anxiety and depression among high school students.The study used the Social Anxiety Scale for Social Media Users,the Self-presentation in Online Social Network Sites Scale,the Basic Psychological Needs Scales and the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale to measure 542 high school students twice for 3 months apart.Online social anxiety was significantly positively correlated with depression,while it was significantly negatively correlated with online authentic self-presentation and basic psychological needs.Depression was negatively correlated with online authentic self-presentation and basic psychological needs.Basic psychological needs play a mediating role between online social anxiety and high school students'depression.Online authentic self-presentation and basic psychological needs play a chain mediating role between online social anxiety and high school students'depression.
