Objective To observe the efficacy of Puyuanhewei capsules combined with quadruple therapy on helicobacter pylori(Hp)infected mongolian gerbils.Methods The Hp-infected mongolian gerbil model was built.These modeled gerbils were randomly divided into the combination treatment group,the conventional treatment group and the model group;the unmodeled mongolian gerbils were selected as the control group.Each group had 12 cases(sex ratio of 1:1).Esomeprazole,bismuth potassium citrate,clarithromycin,and amoxicillin were administered in the conventional treatment group.Puyuanhewei capsules were added in the combination treatment group on the basis of the conventional treatment group.Saline was administered in the control group and the model group.All were administered twice a day for 14 days.The efficacy was assessed at the tenth day and fourteenth day.Results At the tenth day of administration,the results of general physical condition,body weight,intragastric pH value,rapid urease test,viable bacteria count in gastric tissues and pathological results of gastric mucosa in the combination treatment group were significantly improved compared to those in the model group.Meanwhile,the results were similar to those of the conventional treatment group at fourteenth day.Conclusion The combination of Puyuanhewei capsules with quadruple therapy was more effective than the conventional quadruple therapy in the traetment of Hp-infected mongolian gerbils,and significant efficacy was observed at the tenth day of treatment.
