Finite Element Analysis on Penetration and Shear Behavior of Gravity Foundation for Subsea Structures
In order to improve the bearing capacity of the gravity foundation of underwater structures,it is necessary to penetrate part of the structural steel into the seabed to improve its lateral shear performance.Referring to the penetration calculation of pile foundation and the soil mechanical conditions, the theoretical formula is used to calculate the penetration and lateral stability of the gravity foundation. In order to ensure the reliability of the design and to verify the theoretical calculation,a coupled Euler-Lagrangian explicit finite element analysis of the penetration and lateral stability of the gravity foundation is carried out.The analysis shows that the results of the theoretical calculation and the finite element analysis are close, and the theoretical formula can be used to calculate the value during the design.By setting a certain safety factor, the penetration and lateral shear stability requirements of the gravity foundation of the underwater structure can be met.
