In the art of traditional residential architecture,architectural decoration is an important part.While enriching the indoor living environment,people′s functional needs radiate from the material level to the spiritual level,in order to show the cultural implications of architectural space.Through the analysis of the building background of traditional dwellings in North Shanxi,the unique decoration techniques such as carving,painting and paper-cutting,and the construction characteristics of the detailed decorative components,this paper probes into the physical carrier of the expression of the traditional dwellings in this area,and highlights the residents′aesthetic concept and cultural heritage by relying on the symbols and images of the building components,thus presenting the colorful architectural decoration styles in North Shanxi.
