US aircraft carrier joint precision approach and landing system
The joint precision approach landing system(JPALS)is a military,all-weather precision landing/landing sys-tem that uses differential GPS to provide aircraft with the ability to land or land at sea worldwide.For the landing of carrier based aircraft,the JPALS will replace the Maritime Tactical Air Navigation System(TACAN)and AN/SPN-46 radar on act-ive carriers,responsible for the approach and landing control of carrier based aircraft.This article mainly studies the technic-al advantages,system composition,key technologies,and development process of the joint precision approach landing sys-tem.
