Analysis of minimum propulsion power and effect of propeller parameters
As the effective date of EEDI phase 3 approaching, for oil tankers and bulk carriers with conventional propulsion system, the minimum propulsion power must be evaluated by assessment level 2.The"MEPC76 guideline"es-tablished the valid minimum power assessment method from rule's respect. As the propeller which is designed always later than the ship will cause some risks that the minimum power assessment can't be complied with, this paper analyzed the main factors that will have influence on the minimum power assessment and provided the comparison for the results from pro-pellers with different parameters,in order to provide some reference for ship and propeller design to comply with the minim-um power requirement.
