Comparison analysis of different methods for shallow water correction of speed trial
When the ship is sailing, the shallow water effect will occur when the ratio of water depth to draught is less than 4 or the water depth Froude number is greater than 0.6.In the speed trail, the shallow water effect should be properly corrected to accurately evaluate the ship's speed. At present, there are two internationally recognized methods to correct shal-low water effect of speed trial:the Lackenby method and the Raven method. In this paper, basic principles and applicable conditions of these two shallow water correction methods are introduced.Based on speed trial data for nine typical ships, the calculation and comparison of the two methods are carried out,and the influence of the two methods on the correction res-ults of the actual ship speed is analyzed, which can provide reference for trial speed and speed correction.
