The general performance analysis of a semi-submersible platform with rhombic columns
A semi-submersible platform with rhombic columns is numerically investigated.The numerical results and experimental results are compared to validate the numerical model employed in the present study.Then,the time-domain analysis are conducted to investigate the motion performance and mooring performance of the novel platform under extreme sea condition.Finally,the spectral analysis and sensitivity analysis are carried out to study the hydrodynamic principle of the novel platform.The results indicate that the novel platform under extreme sea condition has a superior performance and is able to provide a new method for the oil and gas development in the South China Sea.
