Strength assessment of offshore launch platforms subjected to flame impact loading
Maritime launch platforms are mobile and free to choose the right launch area. The high temperatures and shock loads during rocket launch can greatly affect the structural strength. For an offshore launch platform, the strength of the structure was calculated under seven hydrodynamic conditions, including sail, survival and launch conditions. The launch conditions were selected from the moment of ignition,10 m lift-off and 30 m lift-off.The temperature and wake impact loads of the flame diversion trough are considered,as well as the reduction of the allowable stresses in the plate at high temperat-ures.The results show that the maximum stress in the launch area is at the corner of the flame diversion trough and the reas-ons for this are analysed, and provide references and suggestions for the design of offshore launch platforms and their flame diversion troughs.
