Calculation of ship's surplus water depth by combining hydrodynamic theory and statistics
The reasonable setting of surplus depth is very important for the safe navigation of ships in different seasons and sea conditions.This paper establishes a calculation model of ship's surplus water depth based on hydrodynamic theory,uses Huuska method to calculate ship's subsidence,and obtains the calculation formula of ship's surplus water depth,ana-lyzes the reasons for the errors between the calculated value and the measured value of ship's surplus water depth of differ-ent specifications,and proposes to apply statistics to the calculation of ship's surplus water depth.Based on the historical ex-perience data of bulk carriers,a single regression model is established.The results of surplus depth calculation based on stat-istics are a good supplement to the hydrodynamic surplus depth calculation model,and the combination of the two will help to improve the accuracy of surplus depth calculation in practice.
