Study on Mixed Infection and Drug Resistance of Rabbit Coccidia and Escherichia coli in a Rabbit Farm in Henan Province
Rabbit hepatic coccidia and Escherichia coli are common and harmful diseases in rabbit feed-ing.In order to determine the pathogens resulting in rabbits diarrhea and mass death at a rabbit farm in Henan Province, the laboratory carried out pathological autopsy, parasite detection, tissue collection for i-solation and identification of pathogens and drug sensitivity test. The results showed that the number of coccidia detected in the feces of infected rabbits was less, which did not meet the standard of intestinal coc-cidia infection.Pathological examination showed that a few rabbits'liver had white strip nodular structure.A large number of coccidia oocysts were found in bile microscopic examination of all dissected rabbits.A suspected gram-negative rod pathogen was isolated and cultured. The size of the amplified fragment of eae gene was 833 bp,and the similarity with E.coli MN208178.1 was 99.65%.It was found that the isolated Escherichia coli was sensitive to polymyxin B,amikacin, ampicillin and cefoperazone, and had different degrees of resistance to other drugs. It is concluded that the main reason of large-scale morbidity and mor-tality in the rabbit farm is the mixed infection of hepatic coccidia and its secondary Escherichia coli. The results of this study provides scientific reference for the diagnosis and clinical medication of mixed infection of hepatic coccidia and Escherichia coli in rabbits.
