Antimicrobial Peptide on Intestinal Development and Health of Weaned Piglets
The act of weaning easily triggers stress reaction of piglets, which impairs the intestinal in-tegrity,decreases digestive and absorptive capacity, and increases the intestinal oxidative stress and sus-ceptibility of diseases in piglets. The improvement of intestinal development and health is critical to impro-ving nutrient digestibility and disease resistance in weaned pigs. The supplement of antimicrobial peptides(AMPs)to the diet is an effective measure to improve intestinal development and health of weaned piglets. This review outlines the effects of early weaning on the intestinal health of piglets,as well as the regula-tion of AMPs on the intestinal development and health of weaned piglets, and provides reference for sol-ving the problem of weaning stress in piglets during production.
