In this study,1003 Awang sheep were tested using sheep 40K SNP liquid chip,and genome wide association analysis of hair color traits was carried out combined with the hair color phenotype of Awang sheep.The genetic relationship among individuals was calculated,and then principal component a-nalysis,phylogenetic tree construction and ancestral analysis were carried out with Tibetan sheep,Mongo-lian sheep and Yunnan sheep,and the unique molecular markers of Awang sheep were screened.The re-sults showed that Awang sheep is of Tibetan line,which is quite different from Mongolian sheep and Yun-nan sheep,and it is also a unique group in Tibetan sheep.Genome wide association analysis showed that the black/brown trait of coat color in Awang sheep is significantly correlated with five SNPs on chromo-some 14 and chromosome 20.These SNPs are adjacent to or located in two known genes MC1R and TCF25.By comparing with the genome of large samples of sheep at home and abroad,8 breed specific SNPs of Awang sheep were screened for breed identification.To sum up,Awang sheep has genomic speci-ficity and is a unique genetic resource of Tibetan sheep.
