Effects of Different Proportion of Wheat Bran and Kitchen Waste on the Growth and Nutritional Composition of Black Soldier Fly(Hermetic illucens)Larvae
This study aimed to explore the effects of three proportional feeding modes of wheat bran and kitchen waste on the growth and nutritional composition of black soldier fly(BSFL,Hermetic illu-cens)larvae.Three diets were used to feed 3-day-old BSFL,which included group A(wheat bran),group B(kitchen waste)and group C(wheat bran and kitchen waste:1∶1(w∶w)).The growth and nutritional composition of BSFL were respectively determined at 20 days and 40 days. The results showed the individ-ual weight of BSFL in group C was significantly higher than that in group A and B at 20 days and 40 days(P<0.05).In terms of the nutritional content of the BSFL,the crude protein and crude ash content in group A was significantly higher than that in groups B and C(P<0.05)at 20 days. The crude fat content in groups A was significantly lower than that in groups B and C(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in moisture content among the three groups(P>0.05).At 40 days, the crude protein content displayed the trend of group A>Group C>group B,with significant difference among all groups(P<0.05),the crude lipid content of group A was significantly lower than that of groups B and C(P<0.05),while the ash content of group A was significantly higher than the other two groups(P<0.05).There was no significant difference observed in moisture content among three treatments. In conclusion, the black soldier fly grows best and the nutritional composition of insect body was more balanced when fed with 1∶1 wheat bran and kitchen waste.
