Research on the Influence and Functional Mechanism of Digital Economy on the Optimization of Industrial Structure:Taking the Western Region as an Example
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,China has attached great importance to the integration and development of the digital economy and physical industries.The digital economy has deeply penetrated into various aspects of the economy and society,especially having a positive impact on the transformation of China's industrial structure and the promotion of new business models.By using a two-way fixed effects model on panel data from 11 provinces in the western region from 2013 to 2022,the impact and mechanism of the digital economy on industrial structure optimization were empirically tested.It was found that:firstly,the digital economy has a significant positive impact on industrial structure optimization in the western region.Secondly,with the continuous improvement of the development level of the digital economy,the promotion effect of the digital economy on the optimization of the industrial structure in the western region shows a significant diminishing marginal effect trend.Thirdly,the digital economy further promotes the optimization of industrial structure in the western region by promoting the upgrading of consumption structure.Fourthly,government intervention plays a positive regulatory role in the relationship between digital economy and industrial structure optimization in the western region.Based on this,to improve the industrial structure in western China,firstly,we need to strengthen the construction of digital economic infrastructure and achieve the empowerment of digital economy to upgrade traditional industries;Secondly,regional development policies should be formulated according to local conditions.In economically developed areas,the level of intelligent manufacturing in enterprises should be continuously improved,while in economically underdeveloped areas,the main focus should be on providing basic guarantees for industrial intelligent development;The third is to expand the application breadth of digital technology in the consumer sector,unleash the potential for industrial growth,and promote the optimization of industrial structure;The fourth is to regulate government intervention behavior,create a relaxed policy environment for the development of the digital economy.
