Prediction and Experimental Study on Grinding Force of Arc Profile for Engineering Ceramics
Arc profile grinding is a machining method for complex profiles of difficult-to-machine parts, and the study of its grind-ing forces will be beneficial to improve the surface quality of engineering ceramics.Based on the structure characteristics of arc profile grinding wheel and dimension approximation, the prediction of arc profile grinding force of ceramic material was performed.By studying the removal mechanism of abrasive grains on engineering ceramics, the grinding force model of single abrasive grain slip, plasticity and brittle removal was established.Based on the differences in the size and distribution of grinding wheel grains,a probabilistic statistical method was used to investigate the effective number of grains for different removal methods in grinding, and then a theoretical model of the grinding force for arc profile was constructed. Finally, the theoretical model was verified by grinding force experiments. The results show that the average errors between the calculated values and experimental values of normal grinding force and tangential grinding force are 8.793%and 9.986%,respectively;the grinding force increases with the increase of grinding depth and feed rate, and decreases with the increase of grinding wheel speed.
