Correlation study between triglyceride glucose index and acute myocardial infarction in elderly patients
Objective To analyze the correlation between triglyceride glucose(TyG)index and acute myocardial infarction(AMI)in elderly patients. Methods A total of 987 elderly patients with coronary heart disease who were admitted to the cardiology department of our hospital from October 2007 to July 2011 were enrolled in the study.According to whether they had AMI or not,the patients were divided into the non-AMI group(n=919)or the AMI group(n=68).Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve and Logistic regression were used to analyze the predictive value of TyG index for AMI.Results After adjusting for all potential conf ounders, multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that the TyG index(OR=0.039,P<0.05)was an independent risk factor for AMI.The area under the curve(AUC)of TyG index for predicting the risk of AMI in patients with coronary heart disease was 0.614(95%CI=0.547~0.681,P=0.002)and the optimal cut-off value was 8.6992(the sensitivity was 67.6%,the specificity was 57%,and the Youden index was 0.246).Conclusion TyG index is an independent risk factor for AMI.TyG index are expected to provide a predictive value for elderly AMI patients.
