Analysis of influencing factors for health promotion behaviors in patients with diabetic retinopathy
Objective To analyze the influencing factors affecting health promotion behavior of diabetic retinopathy(DR)patients. Methods Retrospectively selected 122 DR patients admitted to the Second People's Hospital of Huai'an City from January 2022 to January 2024.Questionnaires were administered to the patients using the General Information Questionnaire, the Health Promotion Scale for Diabetic Patients(T2DHPS),the Collaborative Social Support Scale, and the Brief Coping Style Questionnaire.Univariate analysis was used to analyze the differences in the levels of health promotion behaviors among patients with different demographic characteristics.Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between patients'health promotion behaviors, perceptions of social support, and positive coping styles.Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the factors influencing patients'health promotion behaviors. Results The T2DHPS score of DR patients was(85.26±7.28).The results of univariate analysis showed statistically significant differences in T2DHPS scores among DR patients with different age, duration of diabetes, literacy level, per capita monthly household income, and number of diseased eyes(P<0.05).The results of Pearson's correlation analysis showed that both perceived social support and positive coping styles were positively correlated with health promotion behaviors(r=0.481,0.518,P<0.05).The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that age, duration of diabetes, literacy level, per capita monthly household income, number of eyes with lesions, the level of social support, and positive coping styles were all influential factors for health promotion behaviors of DR patients(t=-3.406,3.142,2.035,3.162,-4.047,3.379,3.499,P<0.05).Conclusion The level of health promotion behaviors of DR patients was in the middle to lower level.Perceived social support and positive coping styles are closely related to the level of health-promoting behaviors, and the level of health promotion behaviors of DR patients with advanced age, shorter duration of diabetes, lower literacy level, lower per capita monthly family income, and bilateral eye involvement may be even lower, and the clinic can carry out targeted interventions for the aforementioned patients to improve their health promotion behaviors.
