Analysis of the potential advantages of intelligent assisted walking module in the application of disabled people——a study based on questionnaires
Objective By investigating the daily use of manual wheelchairs and regular electric wheelchairs by people with disabilities,as well as the needs and concerns of these two groups regarding intelligent assistive walking modules, this study aims to analyze the potential advantages of applying intelligent assistive walking modules in the mobility of people with walking difficulties. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted by recruiting 100 participants at the First Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital, including 50 manual wheelchair users and 50 regular electric wheelchair users.Questionnaires were distributed on-site and collected immediately. Results Manual wheelchair users showed lower satisfaction rates and levels of independence, while regular electric wheelchair users exhibited relatively higher satisfaction rates and independence levels. Both groups faced difficulties in common indoor and outdoor activities, with manual wheelchair users facing more pronounced challenges. Both groups demonstrated a high demand for intelligent assistive walking modules, with different types of disabilities showing a preference for specific types of modules.Concerns regarding intelligent assistive walking modules primarily centered around complexity of use and pricing. Conclusion Manual wheelchairs and regular electric wheelchairs cannot fully meet the daily indoor and outdoor activity needs of people with disabilities.Intelligent assistive walking modules have potential advantages in the mobility of patients with walking difficulties.
