Establishment of a Specialized Prescription Comment Standard for Proton Pump Inhibitors and Effectiveness in a Sanatorium
Objective To establish a specialized prescription comment standard for proton pump inhibitors in order to promote rational clinical use.Methods A specialized prescription comment standard for proton pump inhibitors was established by reviewing the related literature and guidelines,seeking expert consensus,and in combination with drug specifications.The prescriptions for proton pump inhibi-tors in our hospital between January 2020 and July 2021 were reviewed.At the same time,prescriptions for proton pump inhibitors between August 2021 and July 2023 after the standard was established were selected to assess improvement.Results The qualified rate of prescriptions increased from 81.9%to 96.9%(χ2= 32.452,P<0.05)after the prescription comment standard for proton pump inhibitors was established.Irrational use,including off-label drug use,inappropriate dosage and administration,inappropriate courses of treatment,and unclear indications for prophylactic use,decreased.Conclusion The specialized prescrip-tion comment standard can not only play a positive role in containing the irrational clinical use of proton pump inhibitors,but also promote the rational use of proton pump inhibitors in clinical practice.
