A New Training Model for Practical Prescription-checking Pharmacists
Objective To create a new training mode for practical prescription-checking pharmacists.Methods The pattern of training for prescription-checking pharmacists was analyzed in terms of curricula,teaching plans,teaching methods,ways of evaluation and quality appraisal before the training mechanism was optimized.This training model was applied to training programs in several cities in Shaanxi Province that were intended to improve the ability of prescription-checking pharmacists to review prescriptions.Results(1)Based on the logical thinking involved in prescription review,domestic and foreign elements of prescription review and the latest national guidelines,the contents for such a training program were designed that included 4 modules and 24 hours of instruction.(2)Case study and problem-based teaching methods were adopted.A multi-link quality control method was employed via tests on essential knowl-edge,in-class tests and tests on practical skills.(3)The quality of such training was assessed.The training was kept optimized and improved by taking into account the opinions of the trainees.Finally,a new train-ing mode for practical prescription-checking pharmacists was established.Conclusion The new training mode for practical prescription-checking pharmacists has been popularized and applied in improving the ability of prescription-checking pharmacists to review prescriptions for 5 consecutive years in 8 cities in Shaanxi Province,and 845 pharmacists from 445 grass-roots health care institutions have been trained offline.This mode of training has proved helpful and fruitful.
