Strengthen the Fundamentals of Supply and Demand Balance——Developing new quality productive forces to lead the high-quality development of vegetable industry chain of Anhui Province for the 15th Five-Year Period
Vegetables are crucial commodities for people's daily sustenance, impacting the lives of millions. It is impera-tive to sustain stable prices for them. However, despite a consistent rise in per capita consumption, vegetable prices have been continuously rising in fluctuation. As we look ahead to the"15th Five-Year Plan",considering vegetables as a traditional in-dustry,it is vital to contemplate their development from the angle of fostering new quality productive forces.Guided by the theory of new quality productive forces, and based on the analysis of vegetable price dynamics and the broader industrial land-scape in Anhui Province, this paper forecasts the supply and demand equilibrium for vegetables in Anhui during the"13th and 14th Five-Year Periods".It identifies and discusses structural issues, such as the mismatch between supply and demand, the dispersed planting scale, and the clustered supply. There is a need to boost the value-added capability of the industry chain, address the lack of pricing power in agricultural products of geographical indication, and reduce the relatively high circulation costs. In light of these challenges and issues, this paper draws insights from the experiences of Shouguang City in Shandong Province and He County in Anhui Province. It puts forth relevant theories on new quality productive forces to guide the veg-etable industry chain's upgradation. With a focus on the balance of supply and demand, the paper proposes strategies that in-clude commitment to technological empowerment, adaptation to local conditions, industrial integration, collaborative ad-vancement,and diverse development. It also suggests specific measures to establish five major centers:an innovative leadership center,a production supply center,a distribution logistics center,a deep processing center, and a comprehensive service center.
