Research on the Agglomeration Effect of Urban Cultural and Tourism Consumption from the Perspective of Consumer Cities
Cities, with their advantages in consumption environment, economies of scale, and associated consumption, exhibit strong consumption agglomeration effects. This paper constructs a three-level indicator system and employs global principal component analysis to dynamically assess the cultural and tourism consumption agglomeration levels of national model cities for cultural and tourism consumption over the past decade. The study finds that urban cultural and tourism consumption agglomeration is influenced not only by factors such as consumption infrastructure, consumption capacity, and consumption re-sources but also by the alignment of these factors within a given region.Core urban areas of municipalities directly under central government achieve high concentration of consumption factors within the region, showing the highest levels of cultural and tourism consumption agglomeration.Non-capital cities with well-aligned consumption factors within their regions exhibit strong agglomeration effects, whereas the extensive spatial expansion of capital cities hinders their agglomeration effect.Based on these findings, urban development should balance the growth of the cultural and tourism industry within cities, urban spatial layout, and residents'recreational consumption. It is essential to deepen the exploration of urban cultural heritage and to devel-op multi-tiered cultural and tourism consumption centers and consumption zones within cities.
