Research on the Promoting Effect of Developing Digital Economy on the Consumption Improvement of Rural Residents
The improvement of welfare levels and wealth in rural areas is the key to achieve common prosperity. This paper evaluates whether the digital economy promotes the improvement of rural consumption levels and the related influencing factors, based on the perspective of consumption expenditure and data from the 2018 China Family Panel Studies(CFPS).The research finds that the development of the digital economy has a promoting effect on rural household consumption, and the re-sults remain robust and reliable even after re-regression using alternative variables.Increasing income, expanding consumption platforms, and improving payment methods have enhanced the digital economy's role in promoting rural consumption. In subsample analyses, rural households with male decision-makers,higher education levels, and complex social relationships ex-perience a stronger promoting effect from the digital economy on consumption. To further promote rural consumption growth, fully expand domestic demand, smooth the internal economic cycle, and solidify the foundation for common prosperity,China should strengthen the consumption base, consolidate platform advantages, and enhance policy guidance to promote digital em-powerment and drive consumption development.
