As one of the modern writers most closely connected with the world,Lao She held an objective attitude in the relationship between traditional and modern,Eastern and Western culture,respecting,understanding and tolerating differences,and seeking the dual dialogue between the internal and external culture.First,Lao She reflected and criticized traditional culture in the dialogue between traditional and modern culture,and transformed the excellent culture for its modernization.Secondly,Lao She criticized the abnormal phenomena in the dialogue between Chinese and Western culture through two major characters of Dr.Mao in Sacrifice and Wen Zhiqiang in Doctor Wen,and described his ideal state in the dialogue between Eastern and Western culture through Li Zirong in Mr.Ma and His Son.Finally,in his works of Xiao Po's Birthday and The Dragon and the Snake on the Earth,Lao She construed a life world in which different national states coexist harmoniously,indicating the ultimate direction of cultural dialogue.
