With the deteriorating ecological crisis,nature writing in Caribbean literature has attracted the attention of the critics,emerging as a hot issue in contemporary literature.The ecological holism awareness in Dabydeen's Dark Swirl and Melville's The Ventriloquist's Tale can be conceived as a representative in this field,with the former an elaborate allegory of the relationship between nature and the human mind and the latter the metaphor of the unity between human beings and nature respectively.By analyzing the conflict between the human and nature in Dark Swirl and the conflict between Amerindian nature consciousness and the rationalism of the capitalism in The Ventriloquist's Tale,the present paper reveals the ecological and holistic existence in Caribbean literature.
