This paper contains speculations on a framework of translation-oriented text analysis.Through surveys of two important text typologies in translation studies, one proposed by Katharina Reiss and the other by Basil Hatim and Ian Mason,it examines the blind points of the typologies and their mutual compatibility. The paper then proposes the dual-level analyses framework on basis of combination of the both, and texts its applicability in practice via the translation of three types of texts.
