Will the development of digital trade reducehazepollution?——Empirical analysis based on cross-border panel data
With the accelerated penetration of digital technology in the field of global trade, digital trade has be-come a new driving force for the development of international trade, which will inevitably bring major changes to the economic and social lives of participating countries. This paper uses the panel data of 82 countries from 2010 to 2019 to empirically analyze the impact of the development of digital trade on haze pollution, and the re-search results show that the development of digital trade can significantly reduce the level of haze pollution in trade participating countries. The results of heterogeneity analysis show that digital trade has a significant effect on pollution reduction in the economies with small haze pollution, but has no significant effect on haze pollution reduction in the economies with large haze pollution. In countries with high economic development level, digital trade has a significant effect on reducing haze pollution, while in countries with lower economic development level, digital trade has no significant effect on haze pollution. Both digital trade exports and digital trade imports will reduce a country's level of haze pollution. The results of the intermediary effect model show that digital trade can reduce haze pollution through the improvement of human capital level, and this impact mechanism will be regulated by national environmental technology innovation ability, that is,the level of environmental technology innovation enhances the intermediary effect of human capital.
