Research on Sino-Indian agricultural products trade cooperation based on complementarity and dependence
Based on the trade data of agricultural products between China and India from 2002 to 2020,this paper measures the complementarity and dependence of agricultural products trade between China and India by using trade complementarity index,intra-industry trade index and trade integration index,and analyzes the agricultural products trade cooperation between the two countries.The results show that the trade complementarity of Sino-Indian agricultural products in the world market is low.In bilateral trade,India's agricultural trade with China is highly complementary,while China's agricultural trade with India is relatively low.Sino-Indian agricultural products are mainly inter-industry trade,while the intra-industry trade level of horticultural products is relatively high,and gradually changes from vertical to horizontal intra-industry trade.China and India have room for inter-industry trade complementarity in 20 agricultural products such as vegetables and cotton,and 2 of the 7 competi-tive agricultural products have room for intra-industry trade complementarity.The trade dependence of agricul-tural products between China and India is low,and the trade dependence of agricultural products between China and India is even lower.According to the research conclusion,this paper puts forward countermeasures and sug-gestions to strengthen the alignment of development strategies between China and India,deepen the cooperation between the two countries in the field of agriculture,make full use of the comparative advantages of China and India's agricultural products,optimize the trade structure of agricultural products,strive to improve the quality and differentiation of agricultural products,and promote the development of intra-industry trade of agricultural products between China and India.
