Research on the influence of the degree of digital economic connectivity on trade closeness of countries(regions)along the Belt and Road
Based on the indicators of the degree of inter-country digital economic connectivity and trade closeness,this paper uses the panel data of 39 countries(regions)along the Belt and Road from 2013 to 2021 to empirically test the influence of the degree of digital economic connectivity among countries(regions)along the Belt and Road on their trade closeness and its mechanism.The results show that the degree of digital economic connec-tivity among countries(regions)along the Belt and Road has a positive promoting effect on their trade closeness;The geographical distance,cultural distance and tariff barriers of countries(regions)along the Belt and Road have a significant inhibitory effect on the closeness of trade between countries;Improving the degree of digital eco-nomic connectivity between countries(regions)along the Belt and Road can weaken the inhibitory effect of geographical distance,cultural distance and tariff barriers on trade closeness;The mechanism by which the degree of digital economic connectivity enhances trade closeness exhibits regional heterogeneity among different coun-tries.Therefore,it is necessary to accelerate the development of the digital economy of countries(regions)along the Belt and Road,strengthen the digital economic connectivity among countries,improve the closeness of trade to promote the sustainable and healthy development of trade of countries(regions)along the Belt and Road.
